Linderhof Palace is a World Heritage Site!

Great news that’s sure to excite not only historians but also us model building enthusiasts: Linderhof Castle – perhaps the most enchanting creation of King Ludwig II – has been officially added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, alongside his other royal castles! 🏰✨

And NOCH is particularly pleased: This architectural highlight is now also available as a complete H0 laser-cut kit! 

🎨 Historic Architecture in Miniature

Linderhof Palace was extensively rebuilt and expanded between 1869 and 1886, making it the only one of King Ludwig II’s castles completed during his lifetime. It became his personal retreat, reflecting his dreams of absolute monarchy, reverence for the arts, and escape from reality.

With the award, UNESCO recognized not only the architectural splendour, but above all the “outstanding universal value” of these buildings. The application had been on the German nomination list since 2015 and the final nomination dossier was submitted in February 2024. Only after extensive examination by international experts was the well-deserved inclusion granted.

🛠 Ideal for demanding model builders

The kit comprises over 1,000 laser-cut parts, made from special cardboard, supplemented by individually modeled 3D printed ornaments and statues - for a model that is based on the original down to the smallest detail. There is also an exclusive 8-piece figure set with King Ludwig II, Sisi, Wagner, two horses, a boy and two swans as well as special glue and detailed building instructions. With a base area of approx. 46.3 × 41.2 cm and a height of approx. 18 cm, this model is an impressive eye-catcher on any layout. Finely crafted statues lend the miniature castle its royal authenticity. 

💡 Tip: Place the castle on a slight elevation and use textured road plates and NOCH green areas to recreate the elegant park around the castle in a lifelike manner. Small fountains, figures in Sunday best and golden fences add that certain something.
