It Flows, Bubbles and Rushes: Water in Motion!

Designing a body of water is one of the most challenging topics in model landscaping. So that you can achieve the best results as quickly and easily as possible, NOCH has developed three new water products. The improvements and innovations are in the details: all three new items for 2018, for example, are completely based on (real) water! This is not just good for the environment; you can also work with it on any surface, even polystyrene. And after use, the tool can be easily cleaned with water.

Until now, modellers could only rely on the tried and tested Water Effects from the NOCH range. We have developed “Waves & Billows” to create high waves on a beach for surfers or a diorama with a ship on the high seas, for example.

“Waves & Billows” is a paste-like compound that is applied to the surface of the water with a small putty knife or toothpick. Once you’ve roughly modelled the compound, leave it to set for half an hour and then give it the desired shape by shaping it with a putty knife, toothpick and coarse paintbrush.

This is how you create the perfect lake
First of all, the Water-Drops® are melted in the oven and poured into the prepared lakebed.
After the lake has cooled down, you can also apply Waves & Billows to the surface with a putty knife and mould the mixture.
The shore area is then decorated. The Grass Tufts are ideally suited to this. To attach the Grass Tufts, it’s best to use tweezers.

Modelling waves and billows in just a few steps
The product Waves & Billows is a paste-like mass that is spread over the dried surface of the water with a small putty knife or scraper. After the mass has dried for about half an hour, it’s tough enough for creating higher billows. Beautiful waves and water forms can be created with a toothpick or a small putty knife.
If you want to model higher waves that break on the shore area, for example, the mass is first pushed towards the shore with a bristle brush. To erect the wave, the material must first dry a little and form a stabilising skin. Then erect the mass into the shape of a cockscomb. You might have to repeat this process until the wave stands securely and can harden. The material will harden and dry transparent after approx. 12–18 hours.
