Kaotic last week before Christmas!
On this Saturday morning, Holly is sitting at the breakfast table with her family. They talk about the fact that Christmas Eve is in a week's time, but traditionally, like every year, a Christmas tree has to be bought first. They discuss among themselves what "the Christmas tree" should be like this year. The mother wants a tree that is not too tall, but full so that she can decorate it well. She also remarks that it would be great if it was a Nordmann fir, as these hardly have any needles. Her little brother wants a tree that is very wide at the bottom so that Santa can put lots of presents underneath.
After breakfast, she and her father go to the Christmas market in the neighboring village to look for a suitable Christmas tree. They stroll through the large Christmas market from one stall to the next and look at countless Christmas trees. Large, small, voluminous and sparse. You find trees in all variations, but not "the Christmas tree". After hours of searching in the cold and crowds of people still looking for presents and Christmas trees, they finally give up and head home disappointed.
On the way home, Holly notices that there is a small wooden sign on the side of the road, covered in snow, that says "Christmas tree sale". She tells her father and asks him if he could turn around and go there. She is hopeful that they will find a nice tree there for Christmas Eve.
