When learning becomes visible and arouses enthusiasm, something very special is created. An impressive example of this is the “Model Railway Workshop” at the Friedensschule in Schwäbisch Gmünd. During a visit, guests were able to experience the creative work of the pupils at first hand - with great amazement at the commitment, diversity of ideas and technical skills of the young people. ✨

🛠️ Model building with heart and hand

A fascinating model railway layout was created in the school's basement - lovingly designed with detailed landscapes, impressive scenes and sophisticated effects. Everything was developed and implemented independently by the young people - with enthusiasm, team spirit and craftsmanship. 👏

"Our students work with real commitment. They contribute ideas, develop creative solutions and show that learning can also be done with heart and hand," says principal Joachim Göser.

In addition to practical skills, the children and young people acquire valuable social skills: they take on responsibility, work in teams and immerse themselves in technical and digital processes. Particularly impressive: one pupil found new motivation through the project, later trained as a train driver 🚆 - and now drives an ICE train. An encouraging success story.

📚 A project that sets a precedent

The model railroad workshop is part of a nationwide educational initiative organized by the Mehr Zeit für Kinder association in cooperation with committed partners from the model-making industry: Auhagen, Busch, FALLER, Märklin, Viessmann - and NOCH.

Since its launch, over 780 schools have already been equipped with a workshop. Every year, up to 60 schools have the chance to win a complete set of equipment - and thus create a place where creativity, enthusiasm for technology and teamwork come to life. 💡

🙌 Model making inspires - even beyond the classroom

We at NOCH are proud to be part of this pioneering initiative. We are really keen to get children and young people interested in technology and model making - and to open up opportunities for them that extend far beyond the classroom.
