Oktoberfest "in a Bottle"
Hamburg meets Munich: Wiesngaudi in a bottle. It had to happen! Evi and Jule from craftyneighboursclub.com in Hamburg have set about crafting Oktoberfest decorations. And what happens when two northerners approach Lederhosen decorations for Oktoberfest is only logical: Oktoberfest "in a bottle"! So, ahoy, Bavarian ship in a bottle, we’ll let the two set off!
Step-by-step instruction
Instructions from Evi & Jule from craftyneighboursclub.com
You need that
- Bottles of different sizes
- Various mini figures
- Mini cows
- Grass Mat
- Decorative Stones
- Temporary Glue
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors, tweezers, blue and white cord
- A strip of solid paper
- Sellotape
Yes, the two of us – Evi & Jule – are real Hamburg
lasses! But Oktoberfest has really turned into a worldwide phenomenon. That’s
why we want to give it a bit of a "northern" twist and for our Oktoberfest
decoration have taken up the idea of ships in a bottle, which we have known
here in the north since childhood.
Ideally, we have found a nice milk bottle, which we
will line with a Grass Mat that has been cut to fit. This is so the Allgäu
cows, which will soon be coming inside, also have something to munch on. Some
little stones are added to finish off, and the cows already feel at home.
Incidentally, the whole procedure is simpler than it
appears at first glance. The trick is to glue the figures and stones to the
Grass Mat before pushing it in. And you’ll certainly now also understand why we
were so happy about the milk bottle. It has a larger opening than a normal
bottle, making it easier to get the Grass Mat with cows on it into the bottle.
You have to fiddle around a bit with a little cork
bottle. There are also apothecary bottles, which you can get from hobby shops
or even from your trusty Swedish furniture store.
For the bottom of the little bottle, we cut out a
small grassy area onto which our dancers will later be glued. You can then
simply put the whole thing in the mini cork bottle with tweezers and decorate
it with a blue and white cord à la Bavaria. If you want to fold a mini paper
ship to add to it, that makes it even lovelier!
