»Goaaaal« – Finally there is a complete football team.
The Portuguese national football team, the so-called Seleção, prestens itself at NOCH, the model landscaping specialist, in its traditional burgundy jersesys.

The team consists out of 10 players and one goalkeeper. The model railway figurines - the football players - have been re-created on a 1:87 scale for the model railway H0 scale and modelled in typical, game-related scenes. The players fight, straddle, curse and run. In combination with other national teams, international matches can be depicted on the model railway landscape or in a diorama.

The Portuguese national mens football team (Portuguese Seleção Portuguesa de Futebol) is a Portuguese all-star team that represents the Portuguese Football Association (Federação Portuguesa de Futebol) on an international level in friendly matches and in international competitions. Contrary to the junior team and to the national football clubs, the Pourtuguese national football team hadn't had won a European Championship or the World Cup title for the longest time, until its first European Championship title in 2016. The team's biggest successes prior to the European Championship title was a fourth place during the 2006 World Cup, a third place during the 1966 World Cup and a second place during the 2004 European Championship in its home country of Portugal.

The Portuguese Football Association was founded in 1914 with the name União Portuguesa de Futebol. Its goal was to hold national competitions, since, back then, there only were regional championships, and also to create a national team, which could compete against other nations' teams. Due to WWI, the Portuguese national team's first match took only place seven years later, on 18 December 1921. The team played against Spain in the O'Donnel Arena in Madrid. However, the Spanish team won 3 to 1. It was already the seventh match for the Spanish team. The Portuguese team the consisted out of players from five different clubs (Internacional, Casa Pia AC, Benfica Lisboa, Sporting Lisaboa, FC Porto). The club Casa Pia contributed the most players, four in total, António Pinho, Cândido de Oliveira, J. Maria Gralha and António Augusto Lopes. Benfica contributed three players (Vítor Gonçalves, Ribeiro dos Reis und Alberto Augusto), Sporting two (Jorge Vieira und João Francisco) and the other two club one player each (Carlos Guimarães form Internacional and Artur Augusto form the FC Porto). The team's players were nominated by a commission, which also consisted out of 11 persons. They were responsible for the Portuguese national team's first three matches. (Source: Wikipedia)
